The small cave "Chousti", situated in the area of Diakofti, is buried in the ground with an area of 30x30. A few years ago a scientific team discovered there many archaeological findings, including stone tools dating to 4000 BC but also classical, roman and other evidence of the cave’s long presence and multiple uses over the centuries. The entrance is carved in stone and leads into the cave from the roof down with successive steps. Several niches on the rock prove that the cave also functioned as a sanctuary. There is a story, saying that when the residents of Diakofti saw a boat reaching the port they would hide in the cave to protect themselves and place lentisk on the entrance so they could not be seen.
