Take the road from Potamos to Karavas, follow the dirt road behind the olive factory and you will end up on the beaches of Ligia and Petritis, on the island’s west. You’ll have to walk several meters after you leave your vehicle. The expression "wild beauty" literally characterizes the view. The beach has grey-black pebbles and the seabed is impressive as –due to the difficult access to the beach- it has remained untouched. Generally, in the northwest coast of the island, from Ocheles up to the lighthouse of Moudari in the northernmost tip of the island, beaches are inaccessible by road, but preferred by fishermen because they provide ideal fishing spots. They can be reached, however, from the sea for a tranquil swim.
